The Las Vegas Chip line was created for the home poker player who wants a set of real Las Vegas chips. The Fan of Cards chips were originally designed for lower stakes poker games. Due to the amount of customer requests, the denominations were extended up to $1000. The chips are a solid chip color and have a full color graphic inlay which covers most of the body of the chip. As a result of the size of the inlay, the chips weigh slightly less than other chips we manufacture with a smaller inlay. The Monterey Club in Gardena, CA. opened in 1940 and was owned by Ernie Primm. It is one of the six card clubs that made Gardena the posh social scene for poker for forty years. The Monterey Club closed in the 1980’s after a number of newer and larger cardrooms opened in neighboring cities. This commemorative chip series uses the same chip colors and edge spot colors as the original chips. The chips from the James Bond movie “Licensed to Kill” starring Timothy Dalton; in the final version of the movie the chips were not shown in any close up shots in the casino scenes. The close up shots were left on the editing room floor, as were the scenes with one of Blue Chip’s partners who played the role of a dealer. The Rainbow Club in Gardena, CA. was located next door to the Monterey Club and connected by a covered walkway with a tavern serving both clubs in the center. The Rainbow Club opened after the number of poker clubs in the city was increased from four to six in 1945 based on an increase in the size of the population of the city. The club closed in the 1980’s after a number of newer and larger cardrooms opened in neighboring cities.
